Mackey Arena Wins ACEC Indiana Merit Award
The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Indiana honored Mackey Arena at Purdue University with a Merit Award at its 2024 Engineering Excellence Awards program, which recognizes engineering achievements demonstrating the highest degree of merit and ingenuity.
Purdue Athletics improved the student and fan experience in Mackey Arena by installing new lighting and audio systems. New attachment points were inaccessible from the catwalk, scaffold, and lifts without affecting the court and causing delays. We performed a condition assessment of the roof, and our Difficult Access Team climbed more than 100 feet above the court to install new attachment points. We also performed structural analyses on dome capacities and behavior.
