Denver Staff Volunteer in National Forest
Denver staff recently spent a weekend camping and volunteering in the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest in north-central Colorado to assist with the construction of the Lady Moon accessible trail system.
In 2024, we participated in surveying and placing the precast structures during two days of volunteer work. This year, we returned for another campout on site, assisting with the installation of the trafficable silicone sealant joints. Our volunteers familiarized themselves with the tools and materials, practiced on a mockup in the shop, and gained hands-on experience installing sealant according to our own detailing and specifications. These boardwalks will provide vital access for individuals with mobility challenges for generations to come.
WJE previously provided pro bono engineering support for the design of the precast concrete boardwalks and their helical pile foundations to provide trail structures that will be durable and fire-resistant.
