Experience

Donald Marmen joined WJE in 2024 with more than thirty years of experience in building envelope design and technology. As a registered architect with prior work at international architectural design firms, Mr. Marmen has a vast background in the design, specification, and construction of building envelope systems for various building types. These include institutional, cultural, transportation, residential, healthcare, and mixed-use facilities that range in size from single-story to supertall towers. His expertise with enclosure systems encompasses stick-built and unitized curtain walls, double-skin walls, and cavity walls, including structural glass walls, cable walls, and steel-backed walls. In addition to glass and metals, he is proficient in most cladding materials.

Mr. Marmen also conducts performance verification testing of the above reference systems to confirm performance requirements relative to their control of and response to air, water, structural, seismic, and thermal loadings. He has also designed systems for blast, ballistic, hurricane, and flood resistance.
